As a child, I will always remember my visits to Mattituck, NY on Long Island. My grandparents had a summer home that the whole family would meet up at. Many times Grandfather, my father, and uncles would go clamming and crabbing not far offshore at our family summer home. They would bring back tons of great seafood that would later be our dinner that night.
I was always mesmerized by all the crabs they had caught. They reached the shore in their tight quarters and were restless in their last hopeless attempt to free themselves before they became apart of our dinner. I often wondered if the crab on the bottom would ever get to the top of the bucket. Today as an adult, that vision still comes to mind when I see the competitiveness within me, or anyone for that matter, fighting to get to the top of their current situation.
Do you feel that way? Well, great things do not happen by chance. Achievement is no haphazard. You must learn to plan each day, each week, each month, if you’re going to reach your ultimate goal. Successful people are able to visualize the pathway to their goals and the series of steps along the way. Great achievements rarely ever come in a single shot. They come from a lot of little steps, one after the other, day after day. You will need a strategy, a plan of action. You need to realize that every day is a step along the way and to plan each day accordingly.
