So, if you can see this, and you know it’s happening to those around you, what makes you think that you are exempt from it? I am going to share with you some steps that you need to take to start building a new life for yourself, and to create more income for you in the future.

Why There is No Job Security Working for Someone Else

Do you realize that when you work for someone else that they hold the key to your future? There really is no such thing as job security when you do work for someone else, because at any time they could tell you that it isn’t working. In considering this, does this really work for you? Why would you want to leave your future in the hands of another?
It’s time to think about where you want to go in life, and if you aren’t getting what you need from your current employer, that is all the more reason to think about making a change.

Did you know that there is job security when you work for you? This is because you decide what happens, and when things don’t work it’s all up to you to change that. This means that you need to get busy thinking about what it is that you want to do with your life, and follow your true love. You are the most important in your life before anyone else, but when you decide to get married and have a family, they become the drive behind each decision that you make.
Can you afford to take care of someone else other than yourself? If you cannot answer that question with a yes, then you need to make a change. Rather than looking for just another job, why not consider starting your own business venture? Job security is well within reach.

What You MUST Do to Ensure That Your Company Gives You Job Security

Now that you understand why working for yourself is important, you need to understand that you MUST take action to give yourself job security when you start your own venture. YOU are the head of the ship, and if you screw up then the company suffers. Start your company off right so that you can do what you need to do in order to ensure your success.
This means that you should get advice from those you trust and those who have experience, and you need to constantly be learning and training yourself in your craft. No matter what business you choose to get into, there is always competition, and you have to find ways to outsmart them.
Brand yourself, and position yourself as THE expert, because if you don’t, no one will look YOUR way regardless. Create a platform online so that you can get noticed, and so that you can drive traffic to YOU.

Robert Kiyosaki is best known for his Rich Dad Poor Dad series of motivational books and explanation of the Cash Flow Quadrant.  The core idea Kiyosaki promotes is that being an investor or business owner gives one more freedom and a higher upside than being someone else’s employee or being an owner-operator of a business.

The CASHFLOW Quadrant, a conceptual tool which he developed to categorize the four major ways income is earned. Depicted in a diagram, this concept entails four groupings, split with two crossed lines (one vertical and one horizontal). In each of the four groups there is a letter representing a way in which an individual may earn income. The letters are as follows.

• E: Employee — Working for someone else.
• S: Self-employed or Small business owner — Where a person owns his own job and is his own boss.
• B: Business owner — A person who owns a business to make money; typically where the owner’s physical presence is not required.
• I: Investor — Investing money in order to receive a larger income in the future.

For those on the left side of the divide (E and S), Kiyosaki says that they may never obtain true wealth. Conversely, those on the right side of the divide (B and I) are supposedly following the only road to true wealth.

So it is Saturday.  Elton John made a hit song about it.  Saturday also just happens to be one of my favorite days of the week.

Why? It tends to be the slowest day of the week for me. My creative juices start flowing!

After a full week of training, being a family man, and obligations to household chores, etc, I do manage a little bit of my day to enjoy some quiet time on this very Saturday to think about life after baseball. I celebrated an amazing 35th birthday on 11.11.11; I woke up thinking about new short term and long term goals for myself rounding off this year and head into next.

Going into another contract negotiation year, I woke up today confident of having a great 2011 baseball season and about my financial snapshot.  I pitched extremely well and put myself in a great position for a Major League contract.  Yet, I still wanted to challenge myself.  Not as a Professional Athlete always does in sports, but to see what I could do as an entrepreneur who could match my current income as a Major League Baseball Player.

Why? Baseball is a borrowed game and with no guarantees in life, Why Not?

Was it possible? I KNOW it is!

Here’s an inside scoop for those who may not know; athletes tend to get paid their full year salary over the course of their season. Sure, you can live like a king for those in-season months, but, IF you don’t budget and save like I do, then you could be in trouble come the off season. Many athletes find themselves in financial predicaments even with the help of financial managers. You may have heard sad stories of athletes going broke. More often than not it’s because they never budgeted for the off-season months. This holds true for many people in all walks of life also, not just professional athletes.

Instead of getting frustrated about paying out expenses during my off-season, and nothing coming in until April 15th (1st paycheck of the 2012 MLB season), I came up with a great idea for my Wild Pitch Marketing Community. I believe I have developed a solution for ANYONE who is looking to market their own business online!

My plan is in place. With the assistance of my team, I will meet the challenge of bringing in some income when not earning my baseball paycheck. What about you? Want to join me? Hello friends and fans of Wild Pitch Marketing. I would like to share a publication with you that I am honored to be a part of, Athletes Quarterly Magazine.  It is a new publication which is gaining momentum amongst the athletic fraternity of professional sports.  It has been created for athletes as a venue to discuss what other athletes do and talk about when they are outside the lines.

Athletes Quarterly (AQ) is dedicated to helping current and former professional athletes to get the most out of life. In addition to chronicling the lives of one of the more elite communities in the world, AQ brings the very best of fashion, automotive, watches and fine jewelry, real estate, home electronics and travel to their community between the covers of every issue. AQ is devoted to help every pro athlete achieve their very best in what they do, what the buy, and how they will transform and create the second act once the curtain falls on their playing career. Drawing on a wide range of contributors from every major sport, AQ is the most authentic publication for the community of professional athletes from all sports.

It has been a great resource for professional athletes during its maiden year of existence and is rapidly gaining popularity.  I enjoy when it shows up in my mailbox during the off-season.  In season, I will find a copy in my locker, laying around the clubhouse, in a bathroom stall or on a card table.  AQ cannot be found at newsstands nor will you be able to pick a copy up at your local book store.

I met AQ’s Editor in Chief, Michael Dolan  back in Spring Training of this 2010 season.  In our discussion, he asked about the things was doing off the field and the next thing I knew I was the subject of an AQ story.   Hopefully, I will one day grace the cover of an ESPN magazine or Business Weekly, but until then I’m very happy appearing in this exciting publication.

These days you have to brand yourself. Create a subject and message to convey to your audience.  If you don’t consider yourself a brand when it comes to online marketing, then you will be lost in the mix of what has happened since the onset of social media.  You don’t need to be a professional athlete or celebrity to have a platform.  Sure it may take you a bit longer to get creative on generating a forum, but taking action and embracing your passion is the only way you will see results.  Go for it with all you have, and I hope you enjoy the article.
