These games are a study of human behavior: survival, passion, struggle, discipline, dedication, loyalty, teamwork, respect for the game. I’ve been to several Minor League games and I see these attributes being common at each game and on a higher level than at the Major League level. After all, these kids are trying to make it to “The Show”.

There are veteran ballplayers working their way back to The Show because they didn’t get a major league contract for whatever the reason. Then there are the youngsters who have not made it yet, but are struggling for survival and fighting to reach higher levels and eventually reach the Majors.

Every time I go to a Minor League game, not only do I see the survival, passion, fight, dedication, loyalty and more from the players, but I see it in the umpires, the coaching staff, the stadium workers, and especially in the fans! It can be quite a humbling experience. But these qualities remind me of how we can approach our affiliations in life, work, co-workers.

Minor leaguers barely make any a decent, liveable salary and only get paid during the season and not in the off season. They sometimes have to stay with host families rather than have their own apartments. I was introduced to a one tradition during a Single A game. These teams are primarily comprised of kids no older than 23 yrs old for the most part and usually range from 18yrs old – 20yrs old. When one of these kids hits a Home Run, a bucket travels around the ballpark where the fans donate a dollar and the kid who hit the Home Run is rewarded with the bucket. Usually the ballplayer treats his fellow teammates to a night out, perhaps a better dinner than Taco Bell. Isn’t this a great tradition? The money goes directly to the player rather than only a portion. 100% commission! I love it!

Ballplayers who are struggling to make it back to the Majors whether due to an injury, past poor performance or hadn’t got offered the Major League contract and working their way back to the Majors all display intense passion and dedication to their craft. You can even feel it in their air. But see, that is what makes attending a minor league game so special. The ballparks are smaller, cozier, less pretentious. The fans show their love by supporting these players and these teams for the love and appreciation of the game itself. There is little hype or flash to these games, especially at the lower levels. It’s the game at its purest form.

Seeing these players, the coaches, the fans, the ballpark workers all dedicate not only themselves but to each other is exactly the kind of workplace I want. The teamwork, the discipline, the respect for each others’ contribution is brilliant. If you’re good at observation, you can see the inspiration feed off of each act. Coaches learn from an 18yr old to better prepare themselves for a higher level coaching job, a young umpire learning from a coach, a young fan learning how to treat others by a kindly ballpark worker.

How can we bring these qualities into our own workplace? How about joining people who want the same success! Working together with others only helps me succeed. Would you like to join my team?

But more importantly, you’ve got to play with your heart, with every fiber of your body. If you’re lucky enough to find a guy with a lot of head and a lot of heart, he’s never going to come off the field second…

Envision Vince Lombardi speaking directly to you, “play with your heart, with every fiber of your body” in the only way Lombardi spoke. Don’t those words strike an emotional response in you? Do you want to stay on the field or come off the field? You have a choice.

What would the best motivational, inspirational football coach say to his business associates? No doubt, the same words he said to his Championship football teams. Lombardi’s renowned and famous speech, ”What It Takes to Be Number #1 is applicable to all walks of life, in business, and in sports.

What kind of Compensation would Vince Lombardi reward his business associates if they followed his leadership?

A Championship, right? That championship could result in winning notoriety, respect, credibility and it could be lucrative. I doubt Vince Lombardi would pay anything less than 100% to maintain his Championship team. If he’s going to spend 100%, then, Lombardi will have to come up with some criteria to assure himself of that Championship.

So what would Vince Lombardi look for in building his championship business team? Sports Championships are the result of exhibiting certain characteristics towards a task of building one cohesive unit working together. There is very little variation between Championship Sports teams and Business teams.

What kind of team characteristics were shared by Lombardi’s teams?

1. Commitment – is “can’t” or “cannot” in your vocabulary or do you say “let’s find a way?” Or do you find excuses like “I don’t have time”, “I don’t have the skills”, “I’m never going to be the person who is up on stage sharing his success story”?
2. Discipline – do you stay the course? Are you ready to roll up your sleeves, dig your heels in and get to work?
3. Excellence – do you strive to be the best?
4. Mental Toughness – do you crumble when you step outside your comfort zone? Do you allow negativity to creep in at the first sign of pain? Who promised easy anyway?
5. Consistency – are repetitions a part of forming good habits?
6. Passion – do you love what you do? Do you get excited doing what you do?
7. Faith – it’s so easy to have faith in others, do you have faith in yourself?
8. Results – do you recognize your results?
9. Integrity – do you perform and represent yourself with integrity? Do you follow through on said intentions?

Lombardi’s quote about passion is “There’s only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything. I do, and I demand that my players do.” Being the motivator, Vince could empower us to commit, be disciplined, exude excellence all to avoid coming off the field. After all, we don’t want to miss out on being a part of that Championship, losing out on notoriety, respect, credibility and in particular the 100% reward.

100% is a very powerful concept. It means complete. There is no more. Ask yourself what 100% means to you? Is 100% your motivator? Are you ready to embrace all the characteristics which make up a championship team? Vince Lombardi used winning a championship as motivation with the promises of notoriety, respect, credibility and of course monetary reward. What made Vince the consummate leader was to balance the personal motivations of each of his players and knowing when to push beyond self imposed limits.

What is your motivation to become a champion? Some people are only money driven while others are driven by the notoriety of success. Many people are happy with a balance of both with a splash of personal satisfaction. To be a champion, you need to reach beyond your comfort zone. Let me leave you with the following questions…

Are you ready to be on Vince Lombardi’s team?

Are you ready to reach 100%?

More importantly, are you ready for the 100% reward?

Starting a business is easy; keeping it going is the hard part. Every new business will stumble many times at the early stages. There is always a learning curve. It is the businesses that learn enough through the stumbling process that will ultimately become successful.

In my opinion many internet businesses do not survive through the stumbling process mainly because of two things:

owners come into it with the get-rich-quick mindset,

they expect that what works for others will work entirely for them.

The hype will always be present in marketing, whether on the internet or offline. The people who are really ready for entrepreneurship will instead keep things real.

Reality is that an internet business is hard work. It takes a lot of research and planning. It requires investment in time, effort and money for all the trial and elimination it has to go through as it finds a firm footing in its specific niche. It takes insight, flexibility and persistence to make many parts of the business to work together well to get the needed results.

Insight

Business acumen is a talent common to the bigwigs. It is an intuitive ability to see clearly the nature of your market and its consumers. A clear perception of how your product can offer value to your targeted customers will help you understand how to market it to them properly so you can get high sales ratios. Perceptiveness will help you find solutions to every problem with the aim to survive and stay afloat.

Flexibility

There is no one-size-fits-all method of marketing. Don’t easily buy into what other “marketing gurus” sell out there which hype that they have the automatic cash machine that will make you rich overnight. It is okay to use other people’s programs but do your research well before you buy anything and keep an open mind about using their method. What works for them, may or may not work totally for you. Some components in their method may work for you, some may not. Your product and market situation will be uniquely different from theirs. Have the flexibility to change things up to suit your needs. Test one out, test several out if your budget can allow, then be innovative and creative and tweak things until you find a marketing method that works for your product and the market situation which it is in.

Perseverance

There is some misconception about perseverance in business I believe. The general definition of perseverance is steady and continued action despite difficulties or setbacks. In a sense this is true but it is very ideal. In my practical and realistic way of thinking, perseverance is steady and continued action despite difficulties or setbacks while keeping losses at a minimum. You have to know where and how you’ll persevere. That takes figuring out what the mistakes are and what solutions need to be made to keep going. You can’t keep losing dollars month after month with one method that’s not getting you results. Neither can you try out one method after another without tracking your progress and understanding clearly when and what to change up. At some point, some things have to work out and some things have to be discarded. Perseverance for me is get somewhere as you keep trying. You need to make decisions, and have direction in order to make things happen so that the business actually produces results.

The true formula for success in business is a combination of the right idea, the right timing, the right method, the right attitude and the right action. A product or service backed up with a good amount of capital to promote it aggressively to a receptive audience using the right marketing method and performed with determined action will bring the business into circulation and carry it through the early years and even further.

Network marketing is a booming industry now. There’s no question about it being an effective marketing system. With nearly two decades of growth (and still on the running), it’s a proven way to start a business and make money online or offline.

What I love about network marketing is that the opportunity is available to everyone. It doesn’t take into account if you have an education or the right kind of college degree. It can work out even if you have a big or low budget to start and run the business. It takes no notice if you have bigwigs or unknowns for connections. Seriously, if anyone is willing to work hard to make things work, you can jump right in along with the big dogs and break barriers and go beyond limits and be successful in this!

The very first few challenges in the setup of your sales funnel for leads and sales will be on

1. site designing, and

2. producing content

These 2 elements will be largely responsible for exposure and public relations. Whatever marketing methods you will choose to mix up in your marketing strategy(pay per click, social media, article marketing, etc), you will be utilizing your site and content actively in them to help get you found, for acquiring customers, for building your relationship with them, to relay product information or to convert readers to buyers.

Here are the very basic network marketing tips during construction stage:

1) Make it your own

Your website will be your online store and your domain name will be your online business address. To dominate your online exposure from the get go and achieve complete branding, pick out a URL that clearly labels what your business is about and register it exclusively as your website address.

2) Help people to find you

Use keywords and keyphrases that you want people to seek you out for so that when they type in those words or phrases to do a search, your site always comes up in the search listing for them to see.

Use those keywords and keyphrases correctly to create all your site content, from pages to posts. Put keywords and phrases on the title, intro and end section of each page and post.

Distribute your content everywhere through your links. People don’t just find you by doing a search, they can find you by reading your blog post in Facebook or Technorati. Sometimes people can come across your site because someone recommended a post or page through a tweet. Your site can get discovered through your URL link in an article you posted on Ezine or ArticleBase. Get your site listed on major traffic directories where people can discover you, bookmark you, subscribe to you, share or tweet your content.

3) Plan out content well

Determine what your site is all about and choose topics that relate so that you promote yourself as an expert in the area you’ve chosen

Track your comments and listen to what your readers are saying so you get ideas of what they need from you and then write useful and helpful content addressing their needs

Write content that builds relationships with your readers during regular communication in your email marketing

4) Track results and make improvements

You can’t get everything perfect at one go. Expect the early stages to be mostly trial and error. Monitoring statistics, comments, page views, page ranking, will help you examine what’s working and what’s not so you can change things up and keep everything working better for the bottom line.

Two key points to keep in mind when you’re doing all these construction:

1) Keep everything integrated

2) Always convey a professional image

When people realize that you know what you’re doing and that you make sense, they will choose to get into network marketing with you.

Many people come and talk to me about how I started this network marketing business of mine. One of the first things I say is that network marketing is definitely not an easy business. What others say about getting rich quick and that this takes no effort at all to work is all hype – total exaggeration, totally misleading.

You definitely have your work cut out for you in network marketing because there are just so many things to figure out and so many elements to put together. There’s:

Domain name registration

Web design

List building

Lead generation

Content development

The selling process

Customer Management

That partial list can go on and on as you’ll have to think over the startup phase, the marketing mix, the financial inflow and outflow, the daily operations and then expansion and growth. It’s tricky and can be overwhelming as you’ll work on different strategies and different tools to find the right approach for everything.

Since starting out is always the difficult step, here are my top 3 network marketing tips to help start you out the right way:

Step 1 – Choose your network marketing company wisely

Think long-term; don’t jump in from one company to another. Look for a company or a product or service that has a track record of success. Five years of successful business is a good track record. Research further if it has potential for growth, is market demand likely for many years or is it headed towards a dead end. You can refer to our previous blog post if you need help on choosing the right network marketing company: SELECTING A NETWORK MARKETING VENTURE: The Marks Of A Solid Business Opportunity

Step 2 – Choose your upline wisely

Don’t feel compelled to sign up with someone you barely know or you’ve never worked with before just because that someone is the one who presented you with the offer you got interested in. You can definitely choose who to sign up with or you can go at it alone using only the training provided by the company and your own marketing methods. Upline support is crucial to your success because a strong upline can provide you the right training and mentoring to keep you motivated.

Step 3 – Create a funnel for new leads and sales right away

Remember that the whole idea of network marketing is networking. It is very important that you amass an army of marketers who will continue promoting and selling under you. As you build up your group of marketers, new sales get pumped into the business. This ensures continuing income for you and growth for the business. When new leads stop coming in, you discontinue new sales. Without new sales, you’re stuck and not developing. Two things can happen when you get stuck: First thing, you have to make certain to keep things stable, that is, you have to manage to keep all (or a substantial handful) of your existing downline and make sure that they keep on selling, then maybe you can survive on a steady stream of income. Second thing, you can very likely go downhill, as just like in the stock market where stagnant prices indicate economic troubles, a stagnant business is not making progress and can’t go nowhere at all. That’s why you need new blood, to maintain the continuity of sales and income.

The starting steps are critical to your road to success in network marketing. The business is not easy because it requires intricate work. It contains many parts and many details that can really consume you. But, the parts and details are really not difficult to understand and sort out. The business can be easy in the sense that it can be understood and resolved, you don’t need to be an intellectual genius to figure things out. You just really need to devote the time required and put your mind to figuring things out. You can get the right help that’s widely available out there to help you sort things out and with proper decision making on your part you can really make a go of things and be successful in network marketing.

We launched a new product this month, the 5Linx Energy Program, and the response has been pretty overwhelming.

It’s so great to see many of us are finally getting aware of energy savings. And I don’t mean just the savings on money that’s involved but also with energy conservation in terms of using up less than what we consumed in the past because the program has made us more aware of what our energy requirements do to the environment and the planet we live in.

Not many understand how deregulation works, how it can save us money and how we help protect our planet through it.

Energy deregulation gives us the power to choose our energy supplier. This power of choice impacts us as consumers in 3 ways:

We can choose the supplier with the cheapest rates, thus making it possible for us to save hundreds of dollars on our electric bill month after month which takes effect as soon as we switch. Before deregulation, we had no choice but to put up with the high prices and the numerous price adjustments that our local utility provider charged us.

We can choose the provider who can offer us the best terms, thus giving us price protection and other benefits (rewards program) throughout the contract period. This is huge as this safeguards us from sudden changes in economic conditions. Some contract agreements can grant price protection for as long as 3 years or more, allowing customers to enjoy fixed rates on energy costs despite the rise and fall of the global fuel prices. Before deregulation, we didn’t have any choice but to tolerate the price increases month after month.

We can choose a supplier flexible enough to work with us according to our individual energy savings strategy. This means we can choose energy-saving products or alternative fuel sources that we feel can supply our energy requirements without compromising quality as well as meet our convictions towards going green and protecting the environment, while at the same time allowing us to save money. Before deregulation, we were stuck with what was provided and because we didn’t have the power to choose alternative fuel products we could not contribute towards environmental protection.

How does deregulation save us money? In deregulation, retail electric suppliers buy electricity wholesale from Energy Service Companies or ESCO’s (who buy it from power plants, wind farms, mining/drilling companies and other sources that create electricity or obtain natural gas) and redistribute or resell this to consumers at competitive prices. Because the electricity is purchased in wholesale price, the savings in purchase costs is passed on to customers by way of cheaper rates. Consumer savings can add up to 10-20% month to month especially during the winter when the heaters are in use, and during the summer months when air-conditioning is in full blast.

The main concern of consumers when choosing to switch energy providers is experiencing service interruption. The only thing that changes when we choose our own provider is the source of electric supply. This means we buy our supply of electricity from the supplier who bought the electricity for us from a direct source. The local utility company will still handle delivery through its pipelines, deal with meter readings, monthly billings and service repairs. The service layout remains as is, the only change that happens is where you buy your electricity from. Take a look at the process above to help you understand better.

Bottom line: With energy deregulation, you get the same electricity, it just costs less.

In previous years, the set-up in the energy industry in all states has always been that one local company, or a very small number of local companies, was the only provider of power supply. What’s more, this lone company or this minority of companies are not only a power resource but also manage and control all the sectors relating to the commodity –production, marketing and selling, distribution, billing and support to customers.

It was a system where one, or a few, were given official exclusive authority to organize, control and adjust the energy supply of the local market. This situation allowed a monopoly of some sort in each state’s energy industry. The dominant market position permitted controlling power and the effects have led to some disadvantages:

The consumers had few choices (or only one choice) of supplier.

Monopolies were able to increase prices without restraint to cover for their costs and profits.

Monopolies were able to reduce quantity of supply to increase prices.

With deregulation, some or all the sectors of the energy industry have been split into component parts. As a result of the divisions, one company or few companies no longer have complete control of the energy industry. Separate companies now own and run the power plants. Independent subcontractors operate as retail suppliers. Salesmen function as self-sufficient marketing agencies. Standalone companies manage billing and support services.

The scenario will differ from state to state as rules of deregulation will differ for each state, but on the whole, energy deregulation has broken up the monopoly.

1) The local utility company is no longer the only option for energy supply.

2) Consumers can now choose their energy supplier and purchase their energy supply directly from Energy Saving Companies (ESCO’s) who either produces the energy or buys it on your behalf to sell to you.

3) With the increase market competition, energy suppliers are compelled to keep prices down and improve their services to retain customer loyalty.

Energy deregulation gives the consumer the power of choice when before he had none, or was restricted to a limited choice. With deregulation, the consumer enjoys enormous advantage:

Consumers have the power to choose from whom they buy their electric power from

Consumers have the power to choose from a wide offering of competitive products, terms and prices.

Consumers have the power to choose the best supplier that can support their individual energy needs

Consumers can rely on a steady supply of energy as guaranteed by the public utility commissions (PUC) in their state.

Consumers gain price protection from market fluctuations

Consumers can collect potential savings, including tax savings in some states

Currently, only 41 states in the U.S are deregulated at some level. Not all are open to competition of residential Natural gas and Electricity supply. Is energy deregulation available at your state?

To achieve good results out of our plans or attempt to sell products or provide services to the general public, this is what anyone who starts a business wants at some point.

To own a successful business is one part of the American Dream. The 6 to7 figure income, 4–hour work days, popularity, authority, peer respect, all the things that money can buy, and yeah, even the crazy people and all the name-calling. Just like living through baseball fame for sure.

We all have our own idea of business success; we also have our own ideas of how we can achieve it. There are some who go for the get-rich quick schemes. Yet, many set out for success through hard work believing that there lies within them the potential to become better and to improve their life using the strength of their body, mind and spirit even though the process is a long and difficult one.

My own road to business success is a tough one. Running a blog and building a network is not easy. The mental drain, the physical burn-out, failed expectations, the money losses, the crazy people and all the name-calling. I tell you, there’s a point you start second-guessing if you really want this.

But then this is exactly what sets the really successful people apart from the mediocre ones. Those that are at the top, WANT to be at the top!

You have to choose to want to be at the top. I chose to want to be at the top! It was a choice I made consciously from the very beginning before going into this. It helped a lot that I wanted this because in wanting this business, and in wanting this to succeed, gave me the drive to go through all of the setbacks. I didn’t count the time, the energy and the resources that this takes up. You’ve got to want this…for yourself, for your family, for whatever reason, and only until then will you find a certain responsibility, a kind of obligation, sort of a sense of devotion or dedication towards a family commitment, to see things all the way through until you reach the top.

Are you ready for your own business success? Do you want it enough to see things through? Look at yourself in comparison to what real successful people are truly made of. Do you have what it takes to reach the top?

1. The really successful people are never content with their level of success. They’re never satisfied with what they have already accomplished but just relentlessly go and do all the time. They set higher goals repeatedly. They reach their goal of 2000 subscribers then think again of how they can reach the next 500. They reach their first 6-figure income and work harder to reach 7-figures. They have the habit of thinking out of the box. They don’t settle down at the comfort zone. They plan out new ideas and try out new strategies while knowing the risks involved. They are courageous and push themselves to new heights. For them, there is no failing, only lessons.

2. The really successful people have the ability to think ahead. They expect and prepare for the worst. They can envision possible future problems and obstacles. They take a look at what’s practical, decide on doing what’s realistic, get themselves ready with the knowledge and expertise and then set out confidently, certain that they have the ability, judgment and resources needed to make things work. They don’t look back. They stand up for their decisions. They keep going with the assurance that they will triumph eventually.

3. Successful people know that they are held accountable for everything. They understand that they are in a position where people have the right to criticize them and ask why something happened and that they need to explain their actions. They never point blame, they solve the problem instead. They don’t hold someone else responsible for something wrong or unfortunate that has happened with their company. They own up to the responsibilities of their business and all the problems that go with it. They find answers and find a way to deal with each problem and difficulty successfully.

4.The really successful people know true value. And believe it or not, they know it’s not just money that’s important. It’s more about creating an overall satisfactory experience for everyone involved with them. It’s about the worth, the importance, the usefulness of what they bring to people. It’s about building relationships and sustaining those relationships. It’s about helping people and giving them opportunities to improve their life. It’s about forming accepted principles and strong characters. For them, the entire journey is the real reward.

It’s absolutely necessary to develop the attitude and disposition of a successful person. With the right mindset and character, you’ll start your business right and you’ll certainly reap the rewards of business success in due time.

Point blank, my goal for 2011 is to put into operation some marketing strategies I have recently learned to further supplement the business and to net 7-figures. That’s the goal, no less!

It’s definitely not gon’na be easy and there will be lots of problems to solve down the road. But, anyone who has tried to build a business of their own online or offline certainly knows that it takes time, money, and a ton of effort to do so.

Let me take this time now to reach out to YOU to join me and be a part of something special this coming New Year! If you have the desire and the motivation to start your own business and build up your own network, then you have my commitment to help you. I have a solid proposition with a product that’s important and useful to people and I pledge to you my support to grow your business, build your brand, expand your network… and make lots of money doing it!

In 2011, I will leverage my capital to continue to learn and launch the best tools that are useful to my community. I will also continue to provide a great deal of value in terms of opinions and reviews which so many of you have found very helpful.

We finish the year strong, a solid operational setup is in place and all our objectives are aligned for the future growth of the business. 2010 was awesome, but 2011 is gon’na be huge! We have lots to look forward to. The road ahead is full of promise. I am excited to get to work together with you and to reach great heights as one. My heartfelt thanks to those of you who have been loyal followers all these years and I look forward to more success in the New Year.

Yours truly,

Hello friends and fans of Wild Pitch Marketing. I would like to share a publication with you that I am honored to be a part of, Athletes Quarterly Magazine. It is a new publication which is gaining momentum amongst the athletic fraternity of professional sports. It has been created for athletes as a venue to discuss what other athletes do and talk about when they are outside the lines.

Athletes Quarterly (AQ) is dedicated to helping current and former professional athletes to get the most out of life. In addition to chronicling the lives of one of the more elite communities in the world, AQ brings the very best of fashion, automotive, watches and fine jewelry, real estate, home electronics and travel to their community between the covers of every issue. AQ is devoted to help every pro athlete achieve their very best in what they do, what the buy, and how they will transform and create the second act once the curtain falls on their playing career. Drawing on a wide range of contributors from every major sport, AQ is the most authentic publication for the community of professional athletes from all sports.

It has been a great resource for professional athletes during its maiden year of existence and is rapidly gaining popularity. I enjoy when it shows up in my mailbox during the off-season. In season, I will find a copy in my locker, laying around the clubhouse, in a bathroom stall or on a card table. AQ cannot be found at newsstands nor will you be able to pick a copy up at your local book store.

I met AQ’s Editor in Chief, Michael Dolan back in Spring Training of this 2010 season. In our discussion, he asked about the things was doing off the field and the next thing I knew I was the subject of an AQ story. Hopefully, I will one day grace the cover of an ESPN magazine or Business Weekly, but until then I’m very happy appearing in this exciting publication.

These days you have to brand yourself. Create a subject and message to convey to your audience. If you don’t consider yourself a brand when it comes to online marketing, then you will be lost in the mix of what has happened since the onset of social media. You don’t need to be a professional athlete or celebrity to have a platform. Sure it may take you a bit longer to get creative on generating a forum, but taking action and embracing your passion is the only way you will see results. Go for it with all you have, and I hope you enjoy the article.
