Living out my childhood dream and experiencing my lifetime goal as a Major League Baseball player has been a true blessing to me and my family.  It has not only provided me with many once in a lifetime opportunities, but also came the rewards of making a good living.  So you might think I’d be the last person who would worry about my financial security.

Well,  you might be surprised.  Thankfully, I never lived well beyond my means and lost everything like you sometimes hear about many athletes.  I had always played it safe and know that nothing in life is guaranteed.  And I want to share the things I’ve learned about how to protect my financial independence – because these are lessons that can benefit everyone.

As a first-round draft choice of the San Francisco Giants in 1997 (the fourth pick overall), it appeared I could look forward to multimillion-dollar contracts and a lifetime of security. But all that changed in 1999 when I developed elbow problems and required major surgery that would keep me off the mound for more than a year.

In 2000, while I was battling to recover from my surgery, I had to face the possibility that my financial security might not come from baseball. I was a little scared, but I was more determined. I promised myself two things: 1. I would pitch again successfully. 2. I would take control of my financial future.

By the grace of God, I was able to achieve both. During my recovery, I became involved in the Voiceover-IP sales industry – and learned how to independently earn my own income. Today, I have a successful VOIP business that will help me care for my family long after my playing days are over.

And when I took the mound for the Detroit Tigers during the 2006 World Series, I couldn’t help but think how all the effort to come back from that surgery had been worth it. Every second of it.  The purpose of this web site is to help others learn the lessons of overcoming obstacles and achieving financial independence.

If I could only share one thing with you about me it would be that I’ve always been driven to succeed and help others to do the same. I have followed a proven success system which I now coach, mentor & encourage others to do on a daily basis. Aside from that my priorities line up as follows:

I have an incredible and supportive family.  I love to travel, golf, bowl, and cook on my grill. (No not because of my name, that just makes for a later possible marketing opportunity!  HA HA! Look out George!)
